The Old Tappan Golf Course first opened for play in 1969. The course was designed by Hal Purdy and built under the purview of the Old Tappan Recreation Commission. With over 40 years of continuous operation, the club has evolved into a beautifully conditioned course that welcomes not only resident members, but also draws golfers from many towns, both in New Jersey and New York.
Old Tappan Golf Course course has tight fairways and fast greens. There are two ponds that come into play on four holes. The signature hole is #6, a par 3, requiring a tee shot over a pond to an elevated green.
Old Tappen plays to a par 35. tees are set at Blue - 3,076 yards, White - 2,961yards, and Red - 2,547 yards.

1) Poorly Maintained. Looks like a Sanford and Son outfit despite some artificial flash added along the edges in a pathetic attempt to compensate. When it comes down to it I found trash littering the course. One player was screaming about DOG SCAT he stepped in on the green!!!!!
2) Staff leaves much to be desired. Ranging from pushy to not caring to arrogant. Very noise. Some arrogant. Some intoxicated. They must be scraping the bottom of the barrel to employ this minimum-wage crew.
3) Pricing is outrageous. It may look like a bargain to some on the surface but you don't get what you pay for, which should be great golf and cordial service from a professional staff. You checkout their rates, break down the prices and compare them with other nearby courses to see what I mean. Play a double loop 18 holes on their 9-hole course and the weekday rate with cart is $75 and the weekend rate is $90. You would be better served to spend your golfing dollars elsewhere.
4) Save yourself the trip and trouble. Go elsewhere. I recommend this course be condemned and used for something more useful like a dog walking trail.
5) The joke is on the Hype. So-called Pro Doug Meeks and son employ a public relations campaign worthy of politics. Money pays for favors and happy reviews. Hint: don't get on this guy's bad side or your ass is grass. Arrogant wise guy worthy of the Sopranos. Nobody should put up with his drama.
